Tame Your Land

Brush! Brambles! Saplings! Trees! Overtaking your driveways, fence rows, trails, and pastures.

THE PROBLEM

Brush, brambles, saplings and trees are overtaking your driveways, pastures, fence rows and trails. You need clear access to these areas and you might even want the firewood and mulch that clearing them can provide.

THE COMPLICATION

You call a contractor, but have a very frustrating experience because frankly, many of them have terrible communication skills.  They don’t return calls, show up late or don’t show up at all.  And when they are there, they make a mess, throwing soda cans and cigarette butts all over the place.

THE SOLUTION

TN LandTamer can clear these overgrown spots while leaving select trees undisturbed.  We can buck and split trees into firewood for you onsite, and shred/chip woody materials to create a usable mulch for your garden and compost projects – or – we can leave the mulched trees and undergrowth in place to discourage regrowth – or – we can haul it all away. A variety of tools and techniques powered by forestry mulchers, brush-cutters (bushhogs), flail mowers, finish mowers, chainsaws, pole-saws and chippers can get the job done the way you want it.

WORK WE DO

PRICING

Pricing varies depending on the complexity, size, scope and requirements of the job, which in turn determine time, equipment and fuel requirements.

Each customer and job have their own unique variables and specific requests.  TN Land Tamer strives to provide a fair price that works for everyone.  We don’t want to have a windfall at a customer’s expense and we also don’t want to lose money.

In situations where a larger job is being done and equipment can stay at your job site for a week, the daily price won’t have to reflect additional hauling.

The best way to determine cost is to get in touch and discuss the details of your project with us.

Q&A

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes, we are.  Chris Moon is our agent at Farm Bureau’s Lewisburg, TN office.

When can you start?

We would like to start as soon as possible.  Our project process requires a phone call, an on-site survey and signing our agreement.  To get on the schedule for an onsite survey, you need to give us a call.  To get on the schedule for starting work, you must sign the contract.

I'M A FIRST-TIMER WITH LAND CLEARING AND DON'T UNDERSTAND ALL THE LINGO. I WANT TO AVOID BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AND WANT TO MAKE AN EDUCATED DECISION. CAN YOU SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE PROCESS?

This is an excellent question.  There are so many different machines and equipment types out there.  It seems that equipment owners can fall into the

“when you’re a hammer, everything is a nail” pitfall.

WHY IS THIS TYPE OF WORK MORE EXPENSIVE THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE?

Great question! For starters, mulching requires approximately $140,000 of equipment to get started.

A special track loader that has high flow hydraulics is required. Such a machine costs approximately $110,000 and puts it in a class that requires
additional maintenance. In addition to the track loader with high flow, a mulching attachment is required and these typically cost around $30,000.

Such a rig is heavy and requires a special trailer to pull it. A properly rated trailer that can support the equipment and be safe on the road is close to $30,000.
So, just to acquire the equipment, an operator is in for approximately $170,000 plus tax.

We still have to consider maintenance and fuel. The metal teeth that chew the wood up must be replaced fairly frequently. A new set of teeth costs over $3000.
On top of this large capital requirement for the actual hardware, track loaders running a mulching attachment use an enormous amount of diesel fuel. Combine this high fuel requirement with escalating prices due to inflation, and costs rise even more. Add in insurance to keep our customers and ourselves protected, and you have a considerable capital requirement and ongoing overhead.
